55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, we'll take a look at bacteria and viruses that impact our lives. We'll talk about why they aren't all bad for us, and why some can cause diseases. Students will learn the differences between a eukaryotic (human) cell, a bacterial cell, and a viral particle. We'll talk a bit about their structure, learn some really cool facts about them, and discuss why they are important for life on our planet. Finally, we'll end with a description of a fun hand washing experiment, and some helpful tips for good hand washing hygiene. I will encourage questions throughout the class! Information in this class overlaps with "Escape Room...Eukaryotes, Bacteria and Viruses!"
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of cells and particles. They will see micrographs, gain an understanding of how important and common they are, and learn how to successfully wash their hands.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching about human health and microbiology for over 12 years now at the college level. I have a daughter in the 3rd grade, and have been giving STEAM presentations in her classes since she started preschool. Kids have wonderful questions, they feel secure when they know the answers, and I hope to foster their interest in biology.
