Description

Class Experience

In this 9 week, ongoing class, each lesson will teach a portion of 3rd-4th grade Geometry. Class sessions will include the following: 
Week 1: Planes, Lines, Rays and Angles
Week 2: Two Dimensional Figures
Week 3: Three Dimensional Figures
Week 4: Area and Perimeter
Week 5: Circles
Week 6: Triangles
Week 7: Using a Protractor to Measure Angles
Week 8: Complementary and Supplementary Angles
Week 9: Using a Coordinate Plane
Students will learn Geometry concepts, practice applying them and...

Students will learn Geometry vocabulary and concepts. They will be able to identify 2 and 3-dimensional figures. Students will understand how to measure area and perimeter. Scholars will also be able to measure the radius and diameter of a circle. They will identify acute, obtuse and right angles as well as different types of triangles. Students will identify faces, edges and vertices of 3-dimensional figures and will identify the names of these 3-dimensional figures.We extend our learning as we learn to use a protractor to measure angles. We will learn to identify complimentary and supplementary angles as well.Finally, students will learn how to use a coordinate plane.

I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Austin College, in Sherman, Texas. I have taught for 28 years mostly in 3rd and 4th grade.

There will be some materials uploaded that need to be printed before particular lessons. Please also have a ruler, a compass, a protractor, as well as a pencil and papers.

Students will interact with the teacher using informal assessment throughout the lesson.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
