*NO LIVE MEETINGS* This is part 1 of my beginner self-paced classes. In this course, students will be introduced to the basics of French but it can be taken after the other two classes (Toy Adventure and Wild Time). This self-paced class is perfect for those who have busy schedules and have difficulty committing to a class that meets at the same time every week. As stated above, there are no live meetings for self-paced classes. Ready for some Monster Fun? In this course, learners will learn the basics of French with a fun monster theme. Every lesson, there will be a new topic that we will be taught and funny monsters will be a part of the learning experience. Lesson 1: Greetings and Introductions Learners will submit a video introducing themselves. Sentence frame: Je m'appelle ______. Lesson 2: Numbers Learners will learn to count to 10 and say how old they are using the target sentence. Sentence frame: J'ai _____ ans. Lesson 3: Colours Learners will learn create a funny person/monster using different colours. They will also learn to say what their favourite colour is. Sentence frame: Ma couleur prérérée est le _____. Lesson 4: I like/I don't like Learners will learn to say what they like and don't like by reacting to videos and pictures. Sentence frame: J'aime ____. Je n'aime pas______. Lesson 5: Feelings Learners will learn to identify different feelings. There will be a matching game that students will get to play. Sentence frame: Je suis ______. Lesson 6: Family Learners will learn to identify family members. Sentence frame: J'ai ____, ___, et _____. Lesson 7: All about me Learners will use everything they have learned during these 7 lessons to introduce and talk about themselves. Throughout the seven weeks, learners will revisit vocabulary that was taught in previous weeks to optimize retention.

Learners will learn the different ways to greet someone depending on the time of day. They will also learn to say "My name is__" in French.

Lesson 2:
Numbers
Learners will learn to count to 10 and say how old they are using the target sentence. I will teach them how to play a card game to practice saying numbers in French.

Lesson 3:
Colours
Learners will learn how to say the colours in French and create a funny person/monster using different colours. They will also learn to say what their favourite colour is.

Learners will learn to say what they like and don't like when talking about different things.

Hello!
My name is Yvonne and I am a certified elementary school teacher in Quebec, Canada. I have 5 years of experience teaching in a classroom setting and over three years of experience teaching ESL online.
I am a stay-at-home mom at the moment. I have three boys under the age of 8 that keep me very busy. I'm so excited to have found Outschool because I have missed being in the classroom and teaching subjects that I love. I believe students learn the best when they feel comfortable in the classroom. I engage my students by being genuine, encouraging, patient, and funny. Building rapport and relationships with my students is as important as the content of the lesson.
I have a passion for languages and speak three myself (English, French, and Swiss German). I also get by in Spanish and German. I will be creating French classes for beginners. I want my students to enjoy learning a new language and feel comfortable enough to speak it in my class.
I also really love travelling and have been lucky enough to have visited many countries in Europe, South America, and Africa. I will be offering classes that take us around the world. Some of my travel classes will have a different focus (animals, food, extreme weather, etc.) while others will be more general but focus on a specific country.
I also really enjoy teaching through the use of picture books and will be creating a variety of lessons based on some of my favourite books. I will be creating lessons that focus on making connections as readers. I also enjoy teaching my students the writing process by first exploring different themes and topics that connect with them.
