Do you have a fun-fact loving learner? Children are full of questions and in this class, many will be answered. Every week, class will begin with a new fun fact that many learners this age don’t already know (hopefully 😉). These fun facts will spark discussions and questions which we will dive further into. We will explore different parts of science like the universe, human body, animals, weather as well as history and geography. For some classes, I might have a quick little experiment that learners will be able to do before, during, or after class. The materials for those classes will be sent before class. Please note that they are always optional. *Topics subject to change based on student interest. Hello!
My name is Yvonne and I am a certified elementary school teacher in Quebec, Canada. I have 5 years of experience teaching in a classroom setting and over three years of experience teaching ESL online.
I am a stay-at-home mom at the moment. I have three boys under the age of 8 that keep me very busy. I'm so excited to have found Outschool because I have missed being in the classroom and teaching subjects that I love. I believe students learn the best when they feel comfortable in the classroom. I engage my students by being genuine, encouraging, patient, and funny. Building rapport and relationships with my students is as important as the content of the lesson.
I have a passion for languages and speak three myself (English, French, and Swiss German). I also get by in Spanish and German. I will be creating French classes for beginners. I want my students to enjoy learning a new language and feel comfortable enough to speak it in my class.
I also really love travelling and have been lucky enough to have visited many countries in Europe, South America, and Africa. I will be offering classes that take us around the world. Some of my travel classes will have a different focus (animals, food, extreme weather, etc.) while others will be more general but focus on a specific country.
I also really enjoy teaching through the use of picture books and will be creating a variety of lessons based on some of my favourite books. I will be creating lessons that focus on making connections as readers. I also enjoy teaching my students the writing process by first exploring different themes and topics that connect with them.
I am very happy to be teaching through Outschool and look forward to meeting your child!
