Informal assessment.Class Experience
Learners for this class need to have taken the class "Describing a Friend". They should have also taken earlier classes in this French 101 series to gain experience with vocabulary and sentence structure as material builds off of earlier classes (Clothes and Colors, Months and Seasons, Weather...) In this beginner French class, the student will learn how to talk about the names of family members (e.g. mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, etc. ). We will use sentences to talk about our family members appearance, likes, etc. . We will link this to previously studied material from other classes. Students will find the atmosphere of this class very welcoming and supportive. I will model all vocabulary and sentence structures and students will have lots of opportunities to participate at their level. It is expected that students participate orally as this is really the only way to learn to use a new language. They will have lots of support to ensure their success.. I teach other beginning French classes that build on one another.
Learning Goals
After taking this class, students will be able to:
-use the French names for their relations
-read, speak, and create sentences to talk about members of their family
