In this one-time class, learners will learn to write about imaginative mythical creatures and characters that are believable and engaging.

Class experience

US Grade 4 - 7
In this one time class, learners ages 8-13 will be able to learn different creative writing skills to take their mythical characters to the next level. This class is centered around building an original fantasy character from scratch, similar to Dungeons and Dragons but for the purpose of individual story-writing.

I attended Western Kentucky University and graduated in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in literature and creative writing. I studied under many talented professors (including David Bell well-known thriller author) whom were also successful published fiction and non-fiction authors. I am experienced in hosting writing workshops and have also participated workshops hosted by renowned memoir author Richard Hoffman. I am a former content writer for an online horror and video game blog, HorrorGeekLife.

I have a 120-hour TESOL certificate and I have taught over 3000 online English classes to students from all across the world; from countries ranging to The United States, Mexico, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Vietnam, Korea, India and more. I am also experienced in a brick & mortar classroom setting working as a substitute teacher across various subjects. The age ranges that I am experienced with include learners anywhere from 3-17 years old.

Word document or a pencil and paper Your learner also may print out the character building sheet ahead of class to write on, or they may type on a word document/pdf version.
Creative writing in this genre can contain themes that some may consider frightening or sensitive: blood, monsters, sickness, violence against creatures and others, characters may potentially handle weapons. I will encourage students to keep the stories appropriate for our classroom and will give writing prompts to guide them in the right direction.

If a learner is consistently causing distractions or being disrespectful, I must use the mute button on that particular child. If they are being extreme and severely offensive/disrespectful to their classmates or teachers, I may remove the learner from the classroom. This is to protect the integrity and experience of our peers in class. I will reach out to the learner's parents after class to discuss the incident.
