Cosplay Meetup: A Weekly Social Club for Anime Fans, Cosplayers and Gamers!
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this weekly club, learners ages 11-15 will be able to socialize and play games with like-minded peers about all things cosplay, anime and gaming! We will begin class by introducing ourselves and telling the class a fun fact about ourselves; how we started enjoying cosplay and anime. For example, I have been cosplaying since 2009 and watching anime for even longer! I have enjoyed anime and manga series since I was in elementary school. My first cosplay was a Sailor Venus costume from Sailor Moon! The classes will follow a different format every week since we are focused on socialization and having fun. I will prompt the class with ice breaker questions and also begin conversation with the latest news and updates, such as upcoming events with voice actors, news about manga and new video games. Each session we will focus on a different conversation topic as a starting point with the discussion being largely learner led. I will guide the class with several conversation prompts and questions, as well as offer weekly cosplay advice for various projects. Learners may come to class dressed in cosplay, closet cosplay, or even in an unfinished cosplay. Comfy, normal clothes are also welcomed! Time permitting, we may have social game activities and they will vary class to class. This is because learners will be focused on socialization, sharing common interests, and sharing any of their art, costumes and collections in a safe environment. I will follow the energy and flow of the students to help encourage a positive and fun space. Some of our favorite anime, games and manga to discuss in this class are: My Hero Academia Demon Slayer Danganronpa Five Nights at Freddy's Sailor Moon Genshin Impact Toilet Bound Hanako Bungo Stray Dogs Spy x Family Doki Doki Literature Club Cookie Run Kingdom Roblox Minecraft Dragonball Z Vocaloid Dream SMP Animal Crossing Pokémon Harry Potter and more! This will be a very comfortable and low-pressure environment where young cosplay enthusiasts can feel safe sharing their ideas and interests. It will help them improve social skills and create friendships. All fans are welcomed in this on-going class! Basic knowledge of anime, games, or cosplay is encouraged but not required. All your student needs is a computer and a love for cosplay! Because of the discussion and gaming nature of this course, class will be cancelled if we do not meet the 2 learner minimum requirement.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their social skills by engaging in exciting conversation about their hobbies and interests.
We will think critically about music videos and news articles about the group, expanding their creativity and opinions in a positive setting.
