Please find and read a news article about a large language model AI. Consider the article's potential bias and limitations, feel free to read more than one, and come to class ready to hear a lot of ideas.Class Experience
This is a discussion-based class, so there should be lots of student participation. I don't claim to have all the answers! Without diving deeply into philosophy, we're looking for ways to use large language model AI that help people without hurting people. This will involve weighing the rewards v risks. During the class, do what helps and avoid what hinders. You will not need to actually use any of the AI's -we're considering if and how to use these tools today. Educators are debating fiercely about what to do about AI, so let's kick around some ideas, too.
Learning Goals

Master's Degree in English from University of Tennessee

AI and what to do about it in English classes have been topics of lively debate at the community college I used to teach at (as well as across the nation.) We wrestled with what to do, policy, and ethics a lot in the department. I lead discussion-based classes frequently. I've taught writing and communication skills for many years.
