Please come to class with a topic you'd like to know more about. One way to get a topic is to find a challenge or new development in a career that you're considering. You'll get more out of the practice if you have a topic to play with, but it's OK if you don't.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Many times you're going to need to gather information for yourself that you know you can trust because it matters. This might be a research essay or project for school or college, a personal interest, or related to your career. This often begins with a vague topic and a need to know more. In this class, we'll go step by step to create a guiding question. Your guiding question helps you stay focused on what you need to learn (do you ever wander off topic in your research?) It also helps you quickly decide if a potential source is useful or not. (Do you spend time studying a source only to discover it doesn't matter for your research?) This drastically cuts down on the wasted time and effort of getting sidetracked while researching, which makes research so much easier.
