Want to feel like Sherlock Holmes? Solve some mystery puzzles with your classmates. Ask yes/no questions to reveal details. Then solve the mystery by telling the story of why the man is hiding in the sunlight, for example. These puzzles are real-world possible but carefully crafted for fun, I mean, skills-building. Along the way, we'll practice some real critical thinking skills, including careful reasoning (logical deduction). You'll need to pay close attention to your classmates' questions and work as a team to solve these puzzles.
Learning Goals
Students will practice critical thinking skills, including careful reasoning with both deduction and induction. They will also practice being precise, questioning assumptions, and developing a line of inquiry.
