Draw With Me: Weekly Sketchbook Drawing for Teens Ages 13-17

I love to draw, I just don't know what to draw!! Sound familiar?  To get better at drawing you just need to draw often, everyday if you can, draw anything you can find, from a crumpled sock on the floor to the tree in your front yard. 
      This class is a weekly motivation to keep a sketchbook and keep drawing.  Using graphite pencils,  artists will be inspired here and get lots of practice and skill building. We will  use graphite pencils to sketch out drawings, lightly with basic shapes and lines and building up to a solid line drawing. Then I will show how to shade to get different values and depth in our drawing. 
       I will not teach basic drawing skills but will demonstrate step by step, from basic shapes to shading and details.  Any level art student can follow , but it will be most comfortable for an INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED student that has done some drawing on their own or taken classes. 
                                                     VOTING
 What we draw each week will be decided by the students.  At the end of every class we have an exciting voting experience where students get to vote from lots of different drawing subjects. We vote on the drawing we will do the following week.  I take ideas from students and add categories that interest my students, so each of my classes is a little different. 
                                          WEEKLY CHALLENGES
  Students are given a challenge every week at the end of class to draw something similar to what we did in class, or using a skill we used. They do the challenge on their own to re enforce what we did together.  It is not mandatory.  If you do the challenge you are rewarded with an extra vote during the Voting time.

Techniques and skills I aim to cover:
   ✏ sketching with basic shapes
   ✏ values in a photo or still life
   ✏ smooth tonal shading
   ✏ other shading techniques (hatching, cross hatching, scribbling, stippling, etc.)
   ✏ Texture (hair, feathers, rough skin of fruit, woodgrain)
