Description
Class Experience
Do you want to practice making your sketches look more three-dimensional? Learn how shading works? Use linear perspective to create depth and distance? Let's draw together! Each week, students will follow along with a demonstration on how to draw a new object, building, or place. We'll use reference photos to guide our sketches, and practice skills such as: drawing from observation, creating three-dimensional forms, shading, and linear perspective. My goal is not only to teach students...
Students will practice drawing skills such as draughting, shading, and linear perspective to improve their ability to draw objects that look three-dimensional.
I taught art in public schools for 15 years before coming to Outschool! Many of my students were beginner artists, and it was always my goal to make them feel more comfortable drawing during the year(s) they were in my class. I make my demonstrations easy for kids to follow (and easy to branch out from!), so we can build their confidence as well as their skills. The goal of this class, like my other "Draw Together" classes, is to prepare my students to draw anything they want!
Reference images will be provided each week and displayed on screen. You'll need: -- Drawing paper (or sketchbook) -- Pencil & eraser -- Ruler Other drawing or shading tools are OPTIONAL, entirely according to your preference. Some students like to use things like: -- Artist pencils (2H, HB, 2B, etc.) -- Tortillions/blending stump -- Kneaded eraser -- Tissue or soft brush (for smudging) -- Ink pen (for outlining) I can give techniques help for additional materials, but they will never be required for our lessons!
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
