In this one-time drawing course, students will learn the basics of drawing a realistic pug portrait. Students will learn techniques to draw a proportionate pug portrait (head to chest) using pencil. Students will also learn basic shading techniques. I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. Students will learn techniques for drawing a proportionate pug portrait (head to chest). Students will learn techniques for drawing with pencil (e.g., shading, adding contrast, etc.).
I have been drawing animal portraits for nearly ten years. It is what I love to draw most of all!
Before class, please print out the picture sent of the pug reference photo we will be drawing. This is sent in the welcome email. If your student does not finish their pug portrait in class, I encourage them to finish it outside of class.
2 files available upon enrollmentREQUIRED: -Drawing paper OR Sketchbook (You can purchase a sketchbook for around $10 on Amazon. Please, no bigger than 9 x 12 inches.) -Wooden pencil -Pencil sharpener -Kneaded eraser (You can purchase a kneaded eraser for around $5 on Amazon.) -Printed reference photo of pug (attached to the welcome email) OR access to the photo during class via an electronic device OPTIONAL: -Drawing pencils (You can purchase drawing pencils for around $10 on Amazon.) -Blending stumps (You can purchase blending stumps for around $5 on Amazon.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and sharing of drawings.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
