Class experience
In this ongoing class we create a new imaginary creature each week. The class is ideal for children who love to draw and use their imagination. Each class provides a creative framework for your child to explore the world around them - and to develop graphic ways of representing imaginary concepts. - Learn about ecosystems and biomes. - Learn to draw on paper what you see in your mind. - Develop details that make an imagined creature interesting and believable. - Practice graphic design skills and refine drawing skills. - Become more fluent and confident in talking about ideas.
I am a fully qualified teacher and through teaching English, German and French I foster a curiosity about different cultures and ways of life. I understand the challenges young learners face when trying to express ideas and found that drawing and discussing ideas is an excellent technique to help children gain confidence in writing and speaking. I hold a Masters in Fine Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As an artist and storyteller I bring geography and cultural studies alive. My teaching is grounded in the creative use of images and narratives. In addition I have worked as a graphic designer and taught visual communication to teenagers. My monster drawing class introduces graphic design skills to young learners, and ask them to apply what they have observed and learned about habitats into their drawings.
