I am a qualified schoolteacher and teach English, German and French, fostering a curiosity about different cultures and ways of life. I have taken many school classes to explore historical sites around London, the city where I live and work, and ask students to consider how the past impacts modern life, and express their observations in writing. I am fascinated by royal myths and legends and spend many weekends exploring the city’s hidden corners and cultural landmarks and have invented several imagined worlds based on these artefacts. 

I am also a trained artist and visual storyteller and bring historic facts alive through highlighting cultural details and drawing students into discussions. I encourage students to sharpen their analytical skills when they imagine a fantasy version of history and to create a consistent cultural and economic model as a foundation for their imagined kingdoms.

Homework Offered
Each of the 3 classes provides writing time so even if students do not find much time to write on their own, they will end the course with a good outline of their imagined kingdom. In my experience students will be excited to develop and expand their ideas after each class. I provide useful handouts that guide students to think about social, economic and cultural concepts that spur the imagination and support their writing.
