Click on "Show all 4 meetings" for details of the times. In this 4-classes writing and drawing course you will invent an imagined kingdom. We are inspired by many authors who keep notebooks with details on the characters and places found in their books. Some call this process "worldbuilding". You will create a new imaginative world from scratch and give your fantasy ideas a solid written outline. We focus on creating essential background details that establish a kingdom, such as geography, people and animals, how they live and eat. We will not be writing about plot in class time but you can certainly write stories after each lesson based on your new inventions! Course Structure You will write and draw in each lesson. I will present the topic and show a variety of stimulating examples. There are handouts for each class to guide you through the steps of writing and creating. You can print these and fill the pages during class. You can also use a notebook or sketchbook to write and draw details of your imagined kingdom. Over four lessons you work out the details of your kingdom. 1.Geography: you create a map of your kingdoms with names, vegetation and climates 2. Inhabitants: you develop the species, animal and plant life in your kingdom 3. Daily Life: you show how they each live and what they eat 4. Culture: you develop the way they speak and celebrate special events At the end of the course your imagined kingdom is defined and outlined and you can use the guide to help you write a story!

Supply List
I provide useful writing guides for each topic we cover - you can print out these handouts and use them during our lessons. In addition each student benefits from having a notebook and blank paper for writing and drawing. We will be writing and drawing in each class so please bring different pens, pencils, colours, crayons, etc. You can make your own little booklet by folding 1-2 A3 sheets in half - this way you can keep all your kingdom notes and ideas in one place and you can also stick completed handouts into this booklet.
