Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class will help students learn and practice division with decimals. I've designed this class to work step by step so that students can build a solid understanding of what we are doing when we divide decimal numbers.

We will begin by reviewing how to divide whole numbers. Then, we will focus on dividing numbers by powers of ten. The focus here is on understanding place value. In the next classes, we will cover how to divide decimal numbers by whole numbers and decimal numbers. We will wrap up the course by practicing what we have learned through story problems.

Each day will include an icebreaker, collaborative discussion on the main topic for the day, and practice. I use lots of practical examples and discussion to help students engage with the topic concretely before moving toward abstract problems.

My class will be conversational, upbeat, and as visual and hands on as possible. Students will be encouraged to interact throughout the class, contributing to the discussion, actively working problems, and sharing their thought processes. Class size is small and limited to five students.

This class supports the National Curriculum for Key Stage 3 maths and is also ideal for children in middle school.
