Average rating:4.9Number of reviews:(26)
Young learners will explore the theme of acceptance and community diversity while listening to a unique story of primary colors coming together to create a brand new city full of beautiful colors, and conduct a colorful and fun experiment!

Class experience

Students will:
*Learn about acceptance and the importance of diversity in our communities.
*Practice reading strategies such as questioning and making text-to-self/world connections to make better meaning of the text.
*Identify the theme and cause and effect relationships in the story.
*See how colors mix and produce new colors through a hands-on experiment.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as teaching certifications in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.) I taught in the public school system for 4 years where I worked with PreK-5th grade students in both the general and special education classrooms, teaching reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. In 2015, I transitioned to the world of online education where I've been teaching English to students in China between the ages of 3-15.
*Small white or light-colored plate (must be glass, ceramic or plastic--NO paper plates)
*Glass of warm water (medium temperature tap water is fine)
*Small bag of M&M's (plain milk chocolate) OR Skittles (any flavor with a variety of colors)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
*This story uses age-appropriate symbolism, in that colors "mix" resulting in a far more diverse and colorful city.
*Students will be working with water and candy during the experiment portion of the class, PARENTAL SUPERVISION is advised.
