Let's celebrate Mardi Gras by making a parade float! At the beginning of class, we will look at a few photos of Mardi Gras parade floats to get some inspiration for our own floats. Then we will get to work on our creations! Using a shoebox or gift box as the base, learners will cover the box and lid with tissue paper or wrapping paper. Then they will be able to decorate their floats using craft materials and decorations. Prior to class, I will send a pdf to guide learners in choosing a theme and planning out their designs. That way, they can collect the materials they would like to use. I will also send a pdf with some designs such as masks and other Mardi Gras symbols that students can color and cut out to use on their floats. I hope you will join me ! I can't wait to see what you create!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Kimberly. I teach classes that involve hands-on learning and creative projects. I believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged in the lesson. Most of my classes are geared toward preschool and elementary aged children. My hope is that my students enjoy learning and become lifelong learners.
I graduated from Ball State University with a degree in elementary education. In 2001, I decided to begin homeschooling my daughter who was 3 years old at the time. Since then, I have homeschooled all five of my children. Additionally, I teach Sunday school and a variety of classes at our homeschool co-op, including kindergarten, an escape room class, and sewing. I am also an online ESL teacher and teach English to children in China.
In my free time, I enjoy baking, sewing, and traveling. I hope to see you in the classroom! :-)
