In this engaging and interactive class, students will embark on a journey of self-discovery, inspired by the themes from the beloved children’s book Who Do I See in the Mirror?. Each session is designed to help children understand and celebrate their unique identities, fostering a positive sense of self and encouraging inclusivity. Throughout the course, learners will explore key topics such as self-worth, diversity, and the importance of kindness and empathy. We will use a combination of storytelling, creative activities, and guided discussions to help students reflect on what makes them special and how they can appreciate the differences in others. The class will be structured around weekly themes, each beginning with a short, engaging video that introduces the concept for the week. This will be followed by interactive activities, including drawing, journaling, and group discussions, where students can express their thoughts and share their experiences. I will guide the learners through each activity, ensuring that every child feels seen, heard, and valued. By the end of the course, students will not only have a deeper understanding of their own identities but will also develop a stronger appreciation for the diverse world around them. This class is ideal for children in the early years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, and will provide a safe and supportive environment where they can grow in confidence and empathy.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Vese, founder of award-winning children's play and learning brand, Philly & Friends and author of the award-winning children’s book Who Do I See in the Mirror? I’m passionate about helping children build a strong identity and discover and celebrate what makes them beautifully unique, while also developing a sense of empathy and inclusivity toward others.
I teach classes that focus on identity, self-discovery, diversity, and the importance of embracing our differences. Through storytelling, creative activities, and interactive discussions, my sessions are designed to build confidence in young learners and help them develop a positive sense of self. Each class is an adventure where children explore who they are and how they can contribute to the world around them.
I have a rich background in working with children, not only as an author and founder of Philly & Friends but also through leading numerous school events, author visits, creative workshops, and speaking engagements. My experiences have allowed me to connect with young children in meaningful ways, and I’m dedicated to creating learning environments that are both engaging and supportive. My work has been celebrated in schools across the UK, and I’m excited to bring that experience to Outschool.
At the heart of my teaching is the belief that every child should feel loved, valued and seen. It is my desire that every child is able to see themselves reflected in the stories they read and the lessons they learn. I am committed to nurturing self-esteem, celebrating diversity, and cultivating kindness. My classes are more than just lessons—they are safe spaces where children can express themselves, discover their strengths, and learn to appreciate the uniqueness in themselves and others.
When I’m not teaching or writing, you’ll find me dancing around the living room with my little ones (my 7 year old girl and 5 year old boy), or curling up with a good book and a warm cup of tea. I’m a firm believer that learning should be fun and filled with joy, and I bring that same energy into every class I teach. I can’t wait to meet your child and help them embark on a journey of self-discovery and creativity!
Fun fact: I am a leapling, meaning I was born on a leap year and only celebrate my birthday once every four years. The children LOVE this fact and are always excited to let me know they will soon be older than me if they aren't already! Ha.
