Hello and welcome to my class on bullet journaling and visual note-taking. This course is geared toward students that want to learn how to incorporate visuals to increase their note-taking skills! Bullet journaling will be introduced as the medium for creating personalized and meaningful notes that students will want to create and want to review. I will spend the first portion of the class demonstrating what bullet journaling is and how to utilize these pages to create highly functional notes by introducing visuals to improve study habits. The second portion of the class will include a brainstorming session followed with the opportunity to create bullet journal pages with the option to share with the class. Students can come to class prepared with their own bullet journal, graph paper, or a plain sheet of paper, along with various colored pens or markers.
Learning Goals
Students will leave the class with ideas on how to use bullet journaling in their daily lives along with increased knowledge of visual note-taking skills to improve study habits!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Catherine and I am Medical Laboratory Scientist! I love being a scientist and sharing my skills and knowledge with young scientists like you! While pursing my master’s degree in medical educational, I gravitated towards the idea of using creative learning strategies and discovered the process of visual note-taking, also known as Sketchnotes, and instantly fell in love! Sketchnotes are a deceptively simple learning tool that engages whole brain learning by allowing the learner to organize data and demonstrate processes and relationships by drawing shapes, doodles, words, lines, arrows, and other visual elements. I believe that visually representing what you are hearing and seeing translates to better learning retention. I want to share my passion for combining art and science to help students create functional notes using a variety of platforms such as Bullet Journaling, PowerPoint, Word, and a basic sheet of paper!
