This ongoing drawing class will cover different drawing subjects and techniques each week. We will cover the different tools such as types of pencils, paper, and erasers. We will cover how to use your arm to draw different shapes. We will cover the different line weights and strokes used in drawing. The class will cover lighting, shadows, perspective, foreshortening, and more. Some of the subjects will be eyes, mouths, faces, figures, clothing, still life, buildings, or animals. Each lesson will give specific techniques along with a different subject. Each class will cover a different subject, so drop in to learn to sketch something new. The pace of this class is set by watching the students and when more than half or three quarters are not drawing I move on to the next step. I continually ask to let me know if they are done and ready to move on. Thumbs up! Or to please let me know if they need more time. For the thousands of students I’ve taught this pace works well. I occasionally get a student who takes more time to draw and some who think it’s too slow. Age is not a factor I’ve has as young as 6 do well and teens who need more time. I’ve gotten reply’s it’s too fast for a certain age and I’ve gotten reply’s it’s not advanced enough. I do my best. If your student speaks up I always try to help. There is no start or stop schedule. This is an ongoing class that continually repeats. Take one or more. Stay enrolled until the class repeats for you or repeat again. It’s very flexible for you. Students start at all times. Unenroll when you are done. week 1-2 - Eyes - Construction lines, Shading, Line weight, Values, Lighting, Highlights, and Reflected light week 3 - Nose, - Using values to create shape and 3D week 4-5 - Lips and smiles - Use of values to create shape and depth week 6-7 - The head and proportions - Dividing the face into sections, construction lines week 8-9- Profile head girl then boy- Dividing the side view into sections, customizing the shape week 10-11 - Full body proportions - Dividing the full body onto sections and measuring features Week 12- Hands- Using shapes, construction lines, and proportions to draw week 13 -Animal- Use of values to create depth week 14-15 - Face 3/4 view -Hatching as a shading technique girl then boy week 16 - Foreshorting full-body Bruce lee week 17 - Skating boy using the grid system week 18 - Perspective buildings week 19 - Guy dancing scribbling- Using scribbling to create shading Then the cycle repeats. We teach anything art, creativity, and design. From beginning Sketching to advance techniques. Art is learning how to see and use a basic skill toolbox. Once you learn these things anyone can add your style and become an artist or designer. Design and art are everywhere around us, graphic design, architecture, product design, fashion design and so much more. It is fun and exciting. A great adventure to explore your creative side!
Our drawing classes focus on confidence build and skill development. We work with the students to help them feel good about whatever level of drawing/creating they are at. Good just comes with time and practice. Confidence and enjoyment are the key components to creating fun, and sometimes great art. All of our classes are stand-alone lessons that any student from any level is welcome to join. Our goal isn't to build fantastic drawings everytime, but to practice hand-eye coordination and a positive mindset while drawing.
We offer classes from Nicholas Gillett an amazing professional Graphic Designer of 15 years and all around artist. He has worked independently and in-house at major design firms. He has designed everything in the print world from logos to posters. He is a brilliant creative mind and makes amazing art out of found objects. He adds a fun quirky energetic approach to learning art.
Sheri Gillett has been an Industrial designer for 35 plus years. You may have used a product I designed! I have won 5 major design awards and have over 55 patents. I have a BA in Design and an MS in CTE Education. She taught Industrial Design, Art, Architecture, and Graphic Design at the high school and college levels. I love hands-on learning and project-based learning. If a student is engaged, motivated, and excited they can make great things! she loves to collect odd things and create something amazing out of them.
