Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner - Advanced Level
One-to-one instruction starts with a quick assessment to identify the students needs. We will then briefly meet with the parent(s) or guardian(s) to discuss the skills we will address during our sessions in an informal individualized learning plan.

Teaching Style: Student-centered approach that focuses on the student's needs while modeling expectations.

Week 1: I know my letters, phonics, and blends. Review of letters, phonics, digraphs, and blends.

Week 2: I can blend my sounds - short and long vowels. Rhyming words. I can spell.

Week 3: I know my sight words. Students are expected to know their sight words.

Week 4: I can read words and sentences - short and long vowels.

Week 5: Let me pick up my pace! Students are expected to start reading with automaticity.

Week 6: Let me pick up my pace! Students are expected to begin to demonstrate reading fluency and automaticity.

Week 7: Let me pick up my pace! Students are expected to demonstrate reading fluency and automaticity.

Week 8: Show me what you know! Students are expected to demonstrate growth in reading fluency.

Homework: Students are expected to spend up to an hour outside of our session reinforcing concepts and reviewing material provided.

Refund Policy: Not happy? Students may withdraw from class and not be responsible for future payments. However, parents are responsible for classes scheduled before the withdrawal date and forfeit those payments.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have over a decade of tutoring experience. I am an educator who has taught for the past five years in public school. I have a Master's in Education and a track record of increasing student reading levels by 2.0 years (as identified using Star Reading Enterprise).

I use practical tools and strategies to reinforce learning. Each week, I instruct and assess the student to check for understanding. I use the "flash method" as a means to help increase their fluency and word recognition. Students will read words, sentences, and passages to reinforce their skills.
