Class Experience

Week 1:

Introduction to the Shopify platform and meet and greet. 
* A brief overview of the Shopify platform
* The type of stores they want to create
* Naming their stores

This will give us an idea of what features to highlight later in the course. 

Week 2: 
What is your vision for your store?
In the first half of this class we will explore the themes available on Shopify and discuss the function of each theme. 
* Simple 
* Boundless 
* Venture
* Debut 
* Supply
* Narrative
* Brooklyn 
* Minimal
* Express

In the second half of the class each student will get a chance to select a theme to explore and craft their desired outcome with monitored assistance.

Week 3: 
There's an app for that!

We will delve into the Shopify App store where there is an app for just about any feature necessary for creating the store. 
The type of apps we will explore are:
* Dropshipping 
* Marketing and discounts
* Product options
* Social Media
* Shipping

Week 4 & 5:
Let's stock the store! 

These two weeks will focus on the products for sale on the store: 
* Adding a product (manually / importing from app)
* Product organization
&
* Creating collections (Automatic Collections vs Manual Collections)
* Adding Menus and Navigation

Week 6:
E-commerce must haves!

This is the week were we focus on making the store look reputable. 
We will be working on: 

* Favicons
* Contact us pages
* About us
* Policy Pages
* Logos

Week 7: 
You've got mail! 

The students will be learning how to creating shipping profiles and how to determine what type of shipping will be required for their type of store. 
* Delivery methods at checkout (Manage how customers receive their orders.)
* Packaging 
* Free delivery vs carrier calculated shipping
* App fulfillment 

Week 8:
Test your online store before going live!
This will give the students an insight into what their customers will experience when making a purchase on the stores.

We will test: 
* Successful and failed transactions
* Refunding and Cancelling orders
* Fulfilling and Partially fulfilling orders
* Creating shipping labels (if applicable)
* Archiving orders

Learning Goals

Students will have a well balanced understanding of the Shopify Platform and the groundwork for creating an e-commerce store.

Teacher expertise and credentials

Welcome to my profile :) Here are a few things about me in no particular order:
1. I will be teaching classes predominantly on creating e-commerce stores. This will be specifically towards Shopify stores. I will also be branching off into a few other crafty classes such as crochet.
2. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and specialized in TESL.
3. I understand that there are many different types of learners and as such my classes will be very hands on and use a wide spectrum of tools to make sure each student feels heard and is learning at the same level. 
4. I love to be outside in nature; either hiking, cycling, or going for long walks. 
5. I have a small e-commerce company selling organic teas and tea-ware that I absolutely love and adore! 
6. I am very passionate about entrepreneurship.
