- Simplify Expressions Using PEMDAS: Accurately apply the order of operations (PEMDAS) to simplify complex expressions.
- Evaluate Formulas: Substitute values into formulas and solve for the desired variable.
- Solve Various Types of Equations: Solve 2-step equations, equations with variables on both sides, and literal equations.
- Understand Slope and Rate: Interpret and calculate the slope of a line from graphs, tables, and two points.
- Solve Systems of Linear Equations: Solve systems of equations using graphing, substitution, and elimination methods.
- Graph and Write Linear Functions: Write and graph linear equations in slope-intercept form (y = mx + b), and standard form (ax + by = c).
- Understand and Use Function Notation: Comprehend function notation and represent functions through words, symbols (equations), tables, and graphs.
- Grasp Properties of Exponents: Understand and apply the properties of exponents, including product, quotient, power of a power, and power of a product.

I have been teaching math for over 20 years at the middle school and high school levels. This includes 5 years teaching 8th grade math and 5 years teaching 9th grade algebra.
