Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 9
Bridge Into Algebra 1 - Summer Prep Boot Camp is an intensive and engaging 3-week course designed to prepare students for the challenges of Algebra 1. With a focus on building strong foundational skills, this course will cover a range of topics including operations with integers and fractions, solving various types of equations, graphing and writing linear functions, systems of equations, functions, and exponents. Each lesson is crafted to ensure students gain confidence and mastery through unlimited practice opportunities.

Class Experience
Students will learn essential pre-algebra and introductory algebra concepts necessary for success in Algebra 1. The curriculum includes operations with integers and fractions, the distributive property, simplifying expressions using PEMDAS, solving various equations, understanding and graphing linear functions, systems of equations, function notation, and properties of exponents. Topics covered include: operations with integers and fractions, the distributive property, simplifying expressions using PEMDAS, evaluating formulas, solving 2-step equations, combining like terms, equations with variables on both sides, understanding slope and rate, slope-intercept form, point-slope form, standard form, solving systems by graphing, solving systems using substitution, solving systems by elimination, understanding and using function notation, representing functions through words, symbols, tables, and graphs, understanding powers, and properties of exponents.

The course is structured into nine 50-minute sessions over three weeks. Each session includes an introduction and explanation where key concepts are introduced with engaging slides and visual aids, interactive examples where students work through examples together with step-by-step guidance, and practice and discussion where guided exercises allow students to practice independently, followed by group discussions to reinforce learning.

I will use a mix of interactive lectures, and real-life applications to teach concepts. Students will have access to online practice exercises for unlimited practice, ensuring they can reinforce their learning outside of class hours. My teaching style is interactive and student-focused, aiming to make math engaging and accessible. I use a variety of teaching methods, including visual aids, examples, practice exercises, and real-world applications to ensure students understand and retain the material.

Students will have ample opportunities to interact with both me and their peers through interactive discussions and Q&A sessions during lectures, collaborative exercises and games to reinforce concepts, visual aids such as slides and video clips to enhance understanding, and guided exercises with personalized feedback. This comprehensive approach ensures students not only learn the material but also develop the confidence and skills necessary for success in Algebra 1.
