Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 9
Bridge Into Algebra 1 - Self-Paced Prep Course is an engaging, intensive course designed for students preparing for the challenges of Algebra 1. This course is self-paced, allowing students to complete lessons on their own schedule while building a strong foundation in essential skills. Covering topics such as operations with integers and fractions, solving equations, graphing and writing linear functions, systems of equations, functions, and exponents, each lesson is designed to support student confidence and mastery with unlimited practice opportunities.

Course Experience Students will explore foundational pre-algebra and introductory algebra concepts crucial for success in Algebra 1. The curriculum includes operations with integers and fractions, simplifying expressions using PEMDAS, solving equations, understanding and graphing linear functions, systems of equations, function notation, and properties of exponents. Topics covered include: operations with integers and fractions, the distributive property, simplifying expressions, evaluating formulas, solving equations with variables on both sides, understanding slope and rate, and working with function notation, powers, and exponents.

This course consists of nine lessons, with each lesson featuring comprehensive slides and visual aids, step-by-step examples, and independent practice exercises. Students progress through each lesson at their own pace, ensuring flexibility to review and practice as needed.

I use a mix of recorded explanations, real-life applications, visual aids, and practice exercises to make math engaging and accessible. Students have unlimited access to online practice exercises, allowing them to reinforce their learning outside of lesson hours. My teaching approach in this self-paced format is structured to be clear and supportive, with visuals, examples, and real-world applications to deepen understanding and retention.

Learning Outcomes Students will gain the skills and confidence necessary for success in Algebra 1. The course is designed for independent learners who benefit from a structured curriculum with flexible pacing and extensive opportunities for practice.
