Class Experience

Students will learn tips for making each bread successfully and gain the confidence to make them on their own again after class! Students will also learn a few interesting facts about the bread and/or it's country of origin!
I have a Generalist teacher certification for grades 4-8 from the state of Texas, as well as a science certification for grades 4-8, also from the state of Texas. I spent 5 years teaching science in a public school, and have spent the past 5 years teaching language arts, science, math, history, and geography in a private setting.
Not only have I hosted week long cooking camps in my home using these recipes, but my own kids love to make these breads. My 11 and 9 year old are now able to make each one without my assistance! I have also taught all of these classes to many learners through Outschool over the past few months.
A complete recipe will be posted in the classroom prior to each weekly class. Tortillas: All purpose Flour Salt Water Shortening **optional ingredients Butter Honey Cheese Scones: All purpose Flour Baking Powder Sugar Salt Butter Milk **optional ingredients Raisins/Cranberries/Frozen blueberries Whipped cream Jam Crepes: Flour Eggs Milk Water Salt Butter **optional fillings: whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, nutella, sliced fruit **homemade whipped cream: heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla Pretzels: Yeast Warm Water Salt Sugar Flour Egg Coarse Sea Salt Students will need basic cooking supplies such as mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons, rolling pin, cookie sheet, and skillet or griddle, and cooking spray/oil.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents need to be available to help and monitor students according to their students ability. We will be using a griddle, skillet, or oven for cooking or baking, so parents need to assist students as necessary. Parents also need to be aware of ingredients and mindful of any potential allergens.
