Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner Level
Your learner is invited to travel the world with us as we learn about different francophone countries of the world! Francophone means French-speaking and culture. Did you know dialects of French are spoken all over the world? Your students will get the chance to learn basic French skills in addition to geographical terms in French, color the flag and say the colors in French, be introduced to vocabulary specific to the country of study, learn foods of that country in French, and much more. Learners will also discover countries that have special dialects of French and speak additional languages.

Each class students will receive an activity sheet titled 'l'ami du jour' (friend of the day). The students will collect their sheets each class they attend and they can compile them into a book! This is an ongoing class so students can attend all sessions or a few and join at any time. Each class will be different. Ready to speak French? Ready to travel the world? Allons-y! (Let's Go!)

This is an ongoing class for 30 classes in all! Students are free to join at any time. Each class is different!

I am a licensed French teacher for grades preK-12. I have a BA in French, an MA in Sociolinguistics, and I am ESL certified. I am an energetic teacher with a love for teaching languages. My classes are inviting and engaging. I look forward to working with your learner soon!

I have lived for a year in Aix-en-Provence, France where I taught ESL in a private school. I have also traveled to Quebec, Canada 2 times with my middle school students. In the classroom for over 10 years, I have been required to teach about over 20 francophone countries as a requirement of the Virginia Standards of Learning for French. In addition, my classes always follow the National Foreign Language Association’s 5 C’s of language learning, which includes culture. In this course, students will learn about 10 different francophone countries. They will learn where they are on a map, why they speak French, and how French in used in their country.
