Description
Class Experience
In this ongoing class, students will explore countries around the world. Each week will take us to a new place where we learn about the country's geographic location and capital city, the meaning(s) of the colors and symbols that make up its flag, food, animals, and resources. Students are encouraged to ask questions throughout the lesson. A one-page worksheet will be posted to the class weekly. Students may begin working on it as we go through the lesson together or complete it at home....
At the end of the class, students will be able to locate the country of the week on the world map and share some interesting facts about the country.
My expertise lies in the Social Sciences, so I am excited to teach Social Studies related courses. I hold a BA and an MPhil in Sociology. I enjoy learning and teaching about countries, their symbols and other elements of their cultures. In this class, lessons do not go in depth into specific details about tribes and their practices.
1 file available upon enrollment- A handout will be provided on the classroom page a day before class. Please print them out and bring them to class. - Highlighter and Coloring utensil Optional supply list: -Toothpick -Glue stick -Styrofoam board -Print out of The World Map worksheet
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Blooket is used to review the lesson at the end of each class. Students do not require an account to be able to participate in the game. A link is sent into the chat box for them to join in the game. Sometimes, I utilize Youtube videos during class via screen share. YouTube links posted in the classroom for further studies are all embedded. Learners do not need to click on any external links.
