📖Join fellow book enthusiasts for energizing reading sprints while boosting your reading skills. Students will set a reading goal, read independently for short periods of time, challenge themselves, and most of all have fun! ❓Does your student struggle to read for long periods of time? ❓Is it a struggle to motivate your student to read? ❓Would your student like some time to socialize with other book lovers? ❗Then this is the perfect class for them! This is a great opportunity to help your child build up their reading stamina in a fun and engaging way, while making new friends in the process. _________________________________ COURSE OUTLINE: We will learn… 👉What a reading sprint is 👉Why we use reading sprints 👉How to do a reading sprint 👉Some tips and tricks to make reading sprints fun! C L A S S B R E A K D O W N : A typical class includes… 👉 Greetings 👉 Introduction to reading sprints 👉 A 10-minute reading sprint where students read independently 👉 A check in to see if students are meeting their goals 👉 Another 10-minute reading sprint where students read independently 👉A wrap up at the end to see how students did with their goals, and a chance for students to discuss their reading for the day and give book recommendations BONUS: Students will receive a printable reading log to help them track their goals during their reading sprints. This is not required for class, and is simply provided to give them something to use to continue to track their reading outside of class. PLEASE NOTE: Students should bring their own book(s) to read. The book or books they are choosing should be at an independent reading level, since that is the skill we are practicing. If it is a smaller picture book, I would suggest having your student bring several books so they don't run out of reading material during the class. _________________________________ Reading sprints can be beneficial for several reasons. They: 📖Boost Focus: Setting a specific time limit helps concentrate attention on reading without distractions. 📖Encourage Discipline: Knowing there's a time constraint can motivate students to stay committed to reading during the sprint. 📖Increase Productivity: Reading sprints can lead to more pages read in a shorter time, making them effective for covering material efficiently. 📖Create a Sense of Community: Participating in reading sprints with others fosters a shared reading experience and a sense of accountability. 📖Break Up Reading Sessions: For those who find it challenging to read for extended periods, sprints provide structured breaks, making the overall reading experience more manageable. Incorporating reading sprints into a routine can enhance reading habits and make the process more engaging and enjoyable.
