This is a great class for beginning readers. In this class, students will learn the short and long vowel rules and apply those rules to spell and read many words that follow CVC and CVCe pattern. This lesson will be taught using hands-on activities, slides, video, and interactive lessons. Students need to be familiar with the vowel sounds when taking this class. They will learn to spell and read words based on the sounds they hear. I will assume the students are already familiar with the basic letter sounds and teach them to apply that knowledge to spell and read words.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the short and long vowel rules.
Students will apply the vowel rules to create new words.
Students will differentiate between words with short vowels vs long vowels.
Students will spell CVC and CVCe words.
Students will read CVC and CVCe words.
