Class Experience
In this 7 week flex course course we will look at various black individuals and why they have been an important part of history. This course will highlight individuals that aren’t always taught or brought up in traditional history classes. Their achievements aren’t always well known to the average student and this course will help to bridge that gap. It will allow students to gain a new knowledge base about these individuals. We will also have discussions about what you believe the reason to be for why we don’t alway see these people in our history books. Students will receive Edpuzzle videos and quizizz review games to help with learning and reviewing the content for each week. I am a certified history teacher and I love history especially ancient cultures so we will have a variety of topics and individuals. Due to this I have taken a variety of history courses throughout the years including African American studies. I have taught US history, Ancient Cultures and Geography of World Regions so the individuals will be from various parts of the world. Week 1: Pre-colonial black leaders Week 2: Black women Week 3: Black inventor Week 4: Black activists Week 5: Black STEAM Week 6: Black change makers Week 7: Final project/video submission (Students will work on a project over the 7 week course. They will share this project with the other students through messaging. I ask that they are messaged to me so I can view them before posting them. The project will focus on an important Black individual they did not know about before starting this course.)
