Please Note: Lesson videos will be shared weekly in the Outschool classroom. This class does not meet in a live setting. What Will Be Taught? In this beginner crochet class, students will learn essential crochet techniques including slip knots, chain stitches, single and double crochet, and shaping stitches. By the end of the course, they will complete a variety of beginner projects, such as bookmarks, coasters, and a simple hat. How Is Your Class Structured? The class is structured into 10 lessons, each focusing on a specific crochet technique or project. Lessons are designed to be hands-on, with students practicing new skills through guided projects and exercises. How Will You Teach? I will teach through a combination of pre-recorded video lessons, step-by-step demonstrations, and practical assignments. Each lesson will include clear instructions and visual aids to help students follow along. What's Your Teaching Style? My teaching style is step-by-step and supportive. I focus on clear, practical demonstrations to ensure that each student understands the techniques before moving on to more complex projects. I aim to make learning crochet engaging and enjoyable. Learning Goals

In this first hands-on lesson, learn the foundational steps of crochet by making a slip knot and practicing the chain stitch, the base of almost every crochet project.
Lesson 2:
Mastering Single Crochet
Take the next step by learning the single crochet stitch. This lesson focuses on creating rows of single crochet to build their first small swatch.
Lesson 3:
Turning Rows and Counting Stitches
Learners will practice turning their work at the end of a row and counting stitches to keep rows even.
We begin our first simple project: Bookmark
Lesson 4:
Double Crochet and Making Taller Stitches
This lesson introduces the double crochet stitch, teaching how to create taller stitches for different texture and versatility.

I’m also an avid bird watcher and enjoy sharing tips on attracting different bird species to your backyard. I also love to crochet and love sharing this craft with others. I even teach crochet classes, where students can learn to create beautiful handmade items. Lastly, I’m a huge fan of fantasy literature and enjoy discussing books and stories with fellow enthusiasts.
