Class Experience

So simple yet so many endless possibilities! Learn step-by-step instructions for planning, gathering ingredients and making lip balm. I will give specific measurements, ingredients and instructions. However, once you learn how to make this brilliant creation, you will be able to make your own unique modifications. Once we have mastered making them, we will create a plan to market and sell our lip balm. Learners must use math to calculate ROI and complete an effective cost analysis.

Scavenger Hunt: Students will be on the hunt to share what they can find on the internet to make their lip balm marketable and stand out. Some ideas we will discuss include: Adding colors, scents, organic or natural ingredients, using environmentally safe packaging and varieties of container options. We will then create a S.W.O.T. analysis outlining our "Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats".

Where and how will we sell them? Some ideas we will discuss include: Wedding/baby shower gift ideas, holiday gifts, online, social media and local boutiques. Other things to include when planning, designing and marketing our lip balms is shipping rates and packaging.

Kahoot Games: Learners will compete with each other on the leaderboard each week as we play games recalling business terms that we learned in class.

Here's a breakdown of what will happen during this 4-week course:

We will learn to make two types of lip balms with beeswax or a vegan option. Review the plans to make our lip balm, gather supplies and handcraft tangible lip balms. Scavenger Hunt! - Students will search and share links for sites like Pinterest for ideas on how to make their lip balm stand out amongst the competition.
Cost breakdown: What did it cost to make our lip balm? What should we sell them for? Scavenger Hunt! - Sneak into the enemy camps to find similar products and share what they are being sold for elsewhere. Kahoot game team competition for terms we've learned in class.
Who, what, when, where and how can we sell our lip balm? Dive into identifying and reaching our target market. Scavenger Hunt! - Search physical stores and/or online marketplaces to see where they are currently being sold and how they are being marketed.
Time to take out the competition and prepare our S.W.O.T. analysis! Play our final game of Kahoot to show off all the new business terms you have now mastered.
