US Grade 6 - 8
🌟 I am a math teacher with over a decade of experience teaching middle and high school math. I was tired of seeing students struggle and even fail because they were lacking basic foundational skills. So, I made this class to support students who need to go back and review these skills. I can't wait to help them feel more confident! 📌 If you’d like a copy of an assessment to see if this class would be a good fit for your learner please message me. I also offer this as a FLEX class which you can take at your own pace with weekly video lessons, check my profile page. 📚 This class is a review and refresh of the major 4th, 5th & 6th grade concepts of multiplication, long multiplication, long division, decimals basics & operations. I provide weekly notes & practice sheets that we start in class and they can finish independently. I always provide answer keys. 🔥 This class content builds week over week, however learners can join anytime. If you are concerned about joining the class after the August start please reach out to me and we can discuss how to make sure your learner is up to speed when joining the class. 🔷 REQUIRED MATH SKILLS: Students should have already been introduced to multiplication, long multiplication, long division and decimals. This class is a review/re-learn style class that assumes they have seen these topics before but need mini lessons, reminders, tips and extra practice to gain mastery. 🔷 SCHEDULE: This class will cover 14 weeks of topics and then take a break for summer. The schedule may fluctuate slightly to adjust to the pace of the students. Week of 8/27/23: Multiplication Facts 3,4,6 Week of 9/3/23: Multiplication Facts 7,8,9 Week of 9/10/23: Long Multiplication Week of 9/17/23: Mental Multiplication Week of 9/24/23: Estimation Week of 10/1/23: NO CLASS NO CHARGE Fall Break Week of 10/8/23: Long Division Week of 10/15/23: Long Division Week of 10/22/23: Multiplication & Division Mix Week of 10/29/23: Decimal Basics Week of 11/5/23: Decimal Rounding Week of 11/12/23: Adding & Subtracting Decimals Week of 11/19/23: NO CLASS NO CHARGE Thanksgiving Break Week of 11/26/23: Multiplying Decimals Week of 12/3/23: Dividing Decimals Week of 12/10/23: Review All Topics with Games/Activities The class will start over in January! 🔷 IN CLASS 🔸 Growth Mindset or 'How to Learn' Topic (5 min) 🔸 Math Lesson (35 min): Demonstrations, Discussions, Practice, Questions, etc. 🔸 Review Activity or Game (10 min) 🔷 EXPECTATIONS 🔸 Students need to give their best effort always. 🔸 Students should have their cameras on when possible. 🔸 Students will be expected to speak, discuss, answer and ask questions as these are KEY ingredients to deeper learning (I do my best to not put them on the spot because who likes that! I provide time to prepare before asking them to respond). 🔸 Students will have extra work/practice to complete after class as we are trying to remediate skills they need to practice on days we don't meet for class. I expect but do not require them to do this extra practice and I always provide answer keys. 🎥 Recordings of sessions will be available after each class in case you have to miss a class. 💫 If you read all the way to this part give yourself a gold star! You're going to achieve great things in life. 😄 🌴 SUMMER BREAK 🌴: I run a summer camp version of this class that will meet 2x a week: https://outschool.com/classes/back-to-basics-math-multiplication-division-decimals-review-summer-camp-y0E9fAjx To see more of my middle school math classes go to my profile page.
