8th Grade Math FULL Curriculum (Pre-Algebra)

↔️ FLIPPED CLASS ↔️ 

This class follows a “flipped model.”  Students watch my video lessons the day before our class to get an introduction to the new topic, try it out, and gather questions.  They can pause, rewind, and rewatch as needed. The following day in class we will practice the concept with more example problems, independent practice, discussion, activities and games; all with me there to support them as they work. It’s like they have me with them 4 days a week even though we only meet 2 days!

📢 COURSE FLEXIBILITY 📢 

You can pay for this class weekly for added flexibility.  This will allow you to give the class a try and make sure it is a good fit for your learner without committing to the entire year. Learners can join the class at any time.  If you are concerned about joining the class after the September start date please reach out to me and we can discuss how to make sure your learner is up to speed when joining the class. 📚 REQUIRED TEXT 📚

This class will be using "The Ultimate IXL Eighth Grade Math Workbook" as our main textbook. Students should purchase a copy (~$16 dollars) to bring to class each day. More details in the 'Materials' section below.


✏️ IN MY FULL YEAR CLASSES ✏️

🧑🏿‍🤝‍🧑🏽 I maintain a small class size to better know & support each student.

📄 I provide answer keys with fully worked out solutions so students can use them to get 'unstuck' or check their own work.

📓 I send monthly parent newsletters to share important announcements along with insight into what we are learning in class.

📝 I offer optional assessments at the end of each unit for learners to check their understanding.

👩‍🏫 I provide personalized and detailed feedback on each learner's unit assessments.

💡 I am available by request for my learners to drop in for extra help a few times over the school year.

🎥 Recordings of each class sessions will be available for review or in case you miss a class.

🌴 SUMMER 2025 REVIEW CLASSES 🌴

Your student can join a week or two (or 8!) of my 7th Grade Review class to get a preview of my teaching style. While it is not a flipped model in the summer, they will still get a good sense of me and my approach. I have a live version and a self paced version.
