What's included
70 live meetings
52 hrs 30 mins in-class hoursAssignments
1-2 hours per week. The homework will be to watch a 15-25 minute video lesson the day before a class meeting and try a couple problems. This works out to 20-45 minutes of work 5 days a week. -Example- Monday: watch video lesson, take notes, & try a few problems Tuesday: class meets and we discuss, dissect, and practice the topic Wednesday: watch video lesson, take notes & try a few problems Thursday: class meets and we discuss, dissect, and practice the topic Friday: optional practice assignments or assessments to review the weekAssessment
Assessments will be provided throughout the course so students have feedback on their progress and level of mastery. Some will be informal assessments like in class games, exit tickets, or the homework. Those assignments will come with keys or will be self grading for instant feedback. I will also provide more formal “tests” for students to take at home at the end of a unit or in the middle of a larger unit. I will provide individual feedback to students and parents when students submit an assessment.Letter Grade
Grades will only be given by request in cases where families need them for homeschool/charter school documentation and will be based on the student's performance on the unit assessments.Class Experience

Welcome to my full curriculum 8th Grade / Pre-Algebra class! We will work hard all year to build math skills, confidence and growth mindsets. Looking for a summer class? Scroll to the 🌴. ↔️ FLIPPED CLASS ↔️ This class follows a “flipped model.” Students watch my video lessons the day before our class to get an introduction to the new topic, try it out, and gather questions. They can pause, rewind, and rewatch as needed. The following day in class we will practice the concept with more example problems, independent practice, discussion, activities and games; all with me there to support them as they work. It’s like they have me with them 4 days a week even though we only meet 2 days! Example Weekly Schedule: 🔹Mon: Watch a Video Lesson & Try a Few Problems 🔹Tues: Class Meets for Practice & Discussion 🔹Wed: Watch a Video Lesson & Try a Few Problems 🔹Thur: Class Meets for Practice & Discussion 🔹Fri: Optional Practice Materials or Assessment Provided 📢 COURSE FLEXIBILITY 📢 You can pay for this class weekly for added flexibility. This will allow you to give the class a try and make sure it is a good fit for your learner without committing to the entire year. Learners can join the class at any time. If you are concerned about joining the class after the September start date please reach out to me and we can discuss how to make sure your learner is up to speed when joining the class. If you'd like your learner to get a preview of my teaching style scroll to the 🌴 to check out my Summer 2025 classes. 📚 REQUIRED TEXT 📚 This class will be using "The Ultimate IXL Eighth Grade Math Workbook" as our main textbook. Students should purchase a copy (~$16 dollars) to bring to class each day. Parental Guidance
Nearpod is an interactive whiteboard application that allows learners to actively participate in the math. Students can share work or ask questions privately, all while I can see each student's work and provide feedback. It’s easy to use – just copy the class link or enter the code in the Nearpod app.
We will also use Blooket & GimKit as practice games.
Students will NOT need to log in or provide personal information for any of the above. They will NOT need an account. I provide a link in class for them to access the live game so only students in the class will have access.

My first goal is for students to have a positive relationship with math. Hopefully, I can build up their confidence and lower any stress around the subject. I try to normalize mistakes and create a low pressure, supportive and fun class environment.
I'm a Credentialed Middle and High School Math Teacher with 13 years teaching experience in grades 6 through 10 and a Master’s in Teaching.
I started my career teaching middle school math and then moved up to high school. I love teaching middle school after having taught high school because I have a very clear idea of where they are headed and exactly what they need to succeed in their first years of high school math.
