Class Experience

In this course,participants will learn how to understand and articulate their personality traits, values, and emotions through creative expression and self-reflection. The course will teach techniques for using art as a medium for introspection and personal growth. 

Each week students will recieve a 30-60 minute video of the teacher guiding them step by step through both the art project, informational slides and answering common questions. Classes are structured through videos, discussion forums, interactive projects, kahoots and feedback. The teaching style is supportive and exploratory, encouraging personal expression. It combines structured guidance with creative freedom, allowing participants to interpret and engage with the material in ways that resonate with them personally. Students can provide feedback to one another daily through discussion forums. 

This structure and teaching style fosters a community of learners who support each other in their journey of self-discovery while allowing flexibility to accommodate individual learning paces.

1. Through art-based projects and reflective exercises, learners will develop a deeper understanding of their own personality traits, values, and emotional responses, leading to greater self-awareness.

2. Learners will use creative mediums to explore and express their emotions, helping them to identify, understand, and manage their emotional landscapes more effectively.

3. By engaging in introspective art projects and reflective journaling, learners will identify personal strengths and areas for growth, setting the stage for continuous personal development and improved self-confidence.

Lesson 1:
Introduction to Self-Reflection through Art
 Understanding the connection between art and self-awareness.
Overview of various art forms and materials. 
Lesson 2:
Exploring Identity
 Creating self-portraits and autobiographical art.
Reflecting on personal history and influences. 
Lesson 3:
Values and Beliefs
 Drawing focused on expressing core values and beliefs.
Analyzing how these values shape personality. 
Lesson 4:
Emotional Landscapes
 Using color and abstract art to explore emotions through painting

I am a board certified behavior analyst specializing in helping children learn to understand body language  as well as teaching social skills. 
I teach social skills and emotional regulation in person and online as a profession. This is to teach skills, not therapy.

I have a Masters Degree as well as a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Behavior Analysis.

I have over 16 years experience working with kids who are both nuerotypical and nuerodiverse and a certification in special education.  

I am continuously taking classes to ensure I am keeping up to date with the information I know as my fields grow 

I specifically have taken Art Therapy courses through the Canva curriculum. 

I have taken Art courses at Oswego State University for the mediums used above. 

I have taken Art and Humanities Courses with artists at Eastport Southmanor in order to learn how to connect art and emotions.
