During instruction, I will create along with your learner so they can pick up little artist's tricks from me on-screen. I will alternate screensharing my screen and the student's screen. Please log in to Outschool/zoom on the same device as your digital art app. If you can, I also recommend logging into the classroom a second device so learners can watch my share screen more easily.

For students interested in photo editing, Adobe Photoshop, and similar programs, we will first explore the basics: lighting adjustment, selection techniques, cut and paste, and layers. Students may choose to focus on improving photos they have created, creating new imaginative works through photocollage and digital art, or drawing in Photoshop using layers to refine a sketch.

For students interested in vector-based art, Adobe Illustrator, and similar programs, we will first work on mastering bezier curves, reviewing objects and layers. Students may choose to focus on illustration, logo design, or graphic designs.

For students interested in graphic design, we may study logo design, product design, web design, fashion or textile design, T-shirt design, print-on-demand products (Redbubble.com, Spoonflower.com, etc.), etc.

I also teach beginner frame-by-frame animation using Flip-a-Clip and Photopea, and also Canva.

Parental Guidance
💡 Please log into the Outschool classroom on the same device as your art app and give permission for zoom to control your device remotely if possible. If you are using a hand-held mobile device for your art app, I recommend you ALSO log into the Outschool classroom on a second device with a student-facing camera. Depending on the student's topic of choice, we may look up pictures and other source material. I will curate my searches while we do our art research and only show the best (and safe) pictures. For digital artists, I require that parents take care of helping students with installing apps and checking that they work or creating any necessary accounts before class. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are paid programs that require a subscription. Photopea, GIMP, Medibang, Krita, Autodesk Sketchbook, and ibis Paint are free programs that work much like Photoshop, creating and editing bitmap images ( *.jpg, *.png, etc.) Inkscape is a free equivalent to Illustrator, best of logo design, illustartion, and creating vector images ( *.svg, *.eps, etc.) Canva is an easy-to-use graphic design program. Flip-a-clip, Photoshop, and Photopea can create short frame-by-frame animations. For students who are interested in product design, fashion, or t-shirt design, I may show images from MY redbubble.com account. Parents may create a redbubble.com account for entrepreneurial students who are interested in creating print-on-demand products.
Supply List
If you are a digital art student looking to work in Photoshop or a similar program, parents should make sure the appropriate program or app is installed and functional. Please download any photos you need for your collage or editing before the start of class.

I love teaching drawing, painting, sculpture and Photoshop to learners of all ages. I've been running my own piano studio for 10+ years. There's a special place in my heart for creative works and the artists that make them, especially fantasy stories and narrative artworks, comics and graphic novels.
