Class Experience

Each class will start with either introductions or a review of what was covered in previous weeks. With a brief slideshow, the new concept and background information will be presented. Then students will create artwork inspired by the solar system, aliens, astronauts, rockets, and the sun and moon. Not only will we make art about space, but we will also introduced to the 6 elements of art, drawing and painting techniques, and other important art concepts. We will cover drawing, watercolor, collage, and mixed media. Each lesson will be taught in a directed drawing style to aid those who are not confident in their skills yet. However, the students will be encouraged to make their art unique and personal to them.

Week 1: Creating a Solar System, watercolor with crayon resist
Week 2: Make Your Own Alien, drawing
Week 3: Rocket Blast-Off, mixed media
Week 4: Moon and Sun, watercolor with crayon resist
Week 5: I'm an Astronaut, drawing

Teacher expertise and credentials
The two things I love most in life is art and teaching! I have a degree in art education and have lots of experience working with young students. I think that basic understanding of art techniques and theories are important things that students should learn to not only further their art skills but also to see the beauty in the world around them!
