The Cardiovascular A&P course will be a four week long engaging, student centered course focused on introducing students to the cardiovascular system. Students will learn about the basic anatomy of the heart, components of blood, the physiology of blood flow through the heart and an introduction to cardiovascular diseases. The purpose of this course is to help learners grasp the basic structures of the cardiac system and understand the functions of this system.
Students will learn through live lessons, in class engagement activities and optional worksheets that coincide with the material. Every 55 minute class will be structured using the following guidelines: introduction bell ringer, class discussion, direct instruction (content), class activity, closing and exit ticket showing mastery.
Course Plan:
Week One: Heart Introduction and Basic Heart Structures (Heart Labeling Worksheet)
Week Two: Blood Flow Through the Heart and Blood Components (Blood Flow Worksheet)
Week Three: Cardiac Physiology and Review
Week Four: Cardiovascular Diseases and Wrap UpLearning Goals
By the end of the course students will be able to correctly label the anatomical structures of the heart, trace a drop of blood through the heart, describe the basic function of the cardiovascular system and explain at least one cardiovascular disease in detail.Other Details
