Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate Level
This 10-week course dives into the fascinating world of Anatomy & Physiology, exploring the structure and function of body systems and how they work together to maintain health and homeostasis. Students will learn about key systems like the skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, and more, while also understanding how they integrate during stress, exercise, or trauma. Each week focuses on a specific system and includes real-world examples of medical conditions, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The class is structured to meet once per week for 60 minutes. Each session begins with a short video clip from a popular medical TV show to frame the topic and connect it to real-life scenarios. This is followed by an engaging lecture using slides and visuals, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities like games, case studies, or quizzes. Students will analyze the medical cases presented in the clips, discuss their observations, and apply what they’ve learned to solve real-world challenges.

My teaching style is student-centered, combining clear instruction with multimedia and relatable analogies to keep learners curious and engaged. I use pop culture references to make complex science concepts accessible and fun, fostering a learning environment where students feel excited to participate and ask questions.

Throughout the course, students will have ample opportunities to interact with me and their peers. This includes group discussions to analyze video clips, interactive activities like games and quizzes to reinforce concepts, and case studies that encourage problem-solving and deeper understanding. With plenty of Q&A time built into each session, students will feel supported and confident as they explore the amazing complexities of the human body.

This class is perfect for teens who love science, pop culture, or are considering a future in healthcare. While a background in high school Biology is recommended, it is not required to join and enjoy this engaging and educational experience.
