Advanced Phonics Level 2 for "Right Brained" Learners

Often vowel pairs are introduced very quickly and students are expected to know them quickly as well.  Many readers need more time and practice to master vowel pairs.

In this class, I will review and share strategies for how to learn 23 of the main vowel pairs.  I have separated them into 3 groups, and your learner can focus on mastering one group at a time.

Included in this class are:

1.  A teaching video (about 30 minutes)   I would recommend that you watch the video with your child.

2.  Flashcards (with ideas for clues to print on the back)

3.  Hundreds of words to practice reading with the vowel teams.  The word lists are separated into levels, to make them easier to manage.  AND, I have included "right -brain" colored vowel team pages to support struggling readers.  

4.  Online flashcards that can be shuffled to practice reading words - again, separated into sections and levels.  Hundreds of words to practice that are decodable and only using the vowel pairs that the learner already knows/is learning.

5.  Practice videos for your learner to watch on their own.  The videos are less than 3 minutes long.  Your child can practice the vowel pair sounds with me - I will give them time to say what the vowel team says, and then I will say the correct sound and your learner will know if they got it correct or not.  This is a way that your child can practice on their own and get feedback.

I have included hundreds of words - but they don't all need to be read on the same day.  I recommend practicing decoding words for about 15-20 minutes, 4-5 times/week.

Learning the sounds these vowel pairs make is VERY important in becoming a confident and successful reader.
