US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
Does your child struggle to memorize their multiplication facts? Have you tried many different strategies already? Your child may be a "right brained" learner - and right brained learners do not learn multiplication facts the same way most learners do. (left brained) Many right brained learners have a special "super power" - a photographic memory that captures and retains pictures!! This class will help learners tap into and use their incredible photographic memory to help them retain and remember their multiplication facts. In each class I will show your learner 5 math facts that are designed for right brained learners. The numbers/math facts will be embedded right onto pictures! I will share a funny/silly story to go with the picture and numbers to help with the memory retention. In the introductory video, I will demonstrate how your child can create their own picture embedded math fact flash card so that they can keep "taking pictures" of it at home during the week. These multiplication cards can be created on index cards or on the attached PDF sheets that I will provide in the classroom. I recommend using pencils and pencil crayons for the drawings. This class is perfect to take as a self-paced class, as your learner can take as much or as little time as they need/want to draw their own multiplication flash cards. Some learners will draw quickly while other learners draw more slowly and like to add more detail. Your learner will be able to pause the video in order to take as much time needed to complete their drawing. The video will also be available to watch again and again. Many learners already know their x2 multiplication facts, as they are similar to doubles addition. (If your child does struggle with remembering their x2 facts, please let me know and I can provide a x2 multiplication class in the same format) Similarly, the multiplies of 5 are quite easy to learn/figure out and there is a simple trick to learn the multiples of 9. And so, I have not included these multiplication facts in these lessons.
Learning Goals
Students will memorize many of the multiplication facts by using embedded pictures and silly stories.

Hello!
I have been teaching on Outschool since 2022, and I am absolutely loving it! I love meeting children from all over the world and helping them learn how to read or helping them to grow in their reading abilities.
My professional background/educational experiences:
After graduating from high school, I attended Bible college and then went to university to get my Bachelor of Education degree. I was a substitute and term teacher for many years for a variety of grade levels. I homeschooled my own children for one wonderful year. And then I taught kindergarten in the public school system for 11 years.
While teaching kindergarten, I thought I knew how to teach children how to read, but it wasn't until I found Reading Simplified and took their amazing reading course, that I finally learned the scientific and proven way of how to teach children how to read! The Reading Simplified method works! I have been working with many children for the past 2 years and been amazed at how much and how quickly many of them improve in their reading!
I have also discovered that some children who struggle to learn how to read benefit from Right Brained Teaching Strategies. This past year I have been learning how to help these bright learners with strategies taught by Dianne Craft.
I am passionate about making an emotional connection with each child and making each child feel seen, heard, special and loved. I strive to be caring, kind and encouraging while teaching new concepts to young learners.
I am a mom to three beautiful adult daughters, 2 amazing son-in-laws and a Nana to the most precious little baby girl. I live in Manitoba (which is in Canada:) and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, attending church and exploring the beautiful outdoors. My favorite activity of all is waterskiing and boating on the lake with my family. When I am not busy being active in the great outdoors, I love spending a quiet evening reading an engaging book beside my fireplace.
