Students will improve their reading skills in this 8-week course. Goals for Level 1 are: Learn the letters of the alphabet, recognize that letters have sounds, become familiar with print concepts, and to find joy in reading.
I am a private tutor with a Master's in Child Psychology. Most of my experience comes from helping children who learn differently. I help children with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Autism, ADHD, and other learning differences. We use games and fun activities to make learning feel more like play.
Homework Offered
Learners will be completing assignments in class with their new friends. Homework will be given for additional practice.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed during an informal first session. If the class is at the right level, no other steps are necessary. If the class is too difficult or too easy, a recommendation will be made. An informal assessment will also be given at the end of the 8-week session with the progress that is made.Grades Offered

2 files available upon enrollmentIn the classroom, a downloadable workbook will be assigned to the students. They will be given a challenge to complete, and the ones who succeed will be rewarded with a BIG PRIZE at the end of our 2-week session. This challenge will be a great motivator, even for the most reluctant readers. During the course, we will be using playdough, slime, or putty to make letters and sight words. Writing these words on a rice tray or sand tray is optional. To showcase their learning, students will need a whiteboard and dry erase markers.

Students will be given additional assignments and websites to utilize as resources.
We will use different platforms such as Education.com, NearPod, Kahoot, and Epic. These can be used outside of the classroom and after the 2-week session is completed. These resources will help students love learning and find joy in reading.
