Students will learn more about the skill of summarizing fiction using scenes from their favorite TV programs...and maybe even discover some new favorites along the way! Through my engaging PowerPoints and discussion questions, I will make sure that every student is involved in the process of summarizing so that they will emerge from this workshop better at summarizing than when they entered! Students will improve in their summaries of the characters, setting, and plot of a story.
Learners will need: 1) Paper 2) Pen or Pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will write summaries, which are evaluated with a rubric.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
-Teacher will be using video clips from Youtube. All videos will be screenshared and are age-appropriate. -If time, teacher will also be screensharing a summarizing Kahoot activity. Child must have second device ready at the end of class to answer the Kahoot questions onscreen.
Kahoot will be used at the end of class.
