In this single class, we will examine Tangrams! Reading "Grandfather Tang's Story," while creating the characters with their own set of tangrams, the student will gain an understanding of fractions and ignite the imagination for writing.

Class Experience
This will be an examination of tangrams, an introduction to fractions, and igniting the imagination for students to write their own tangram story after the class. Class will begin with reading "Grandfather Tang's Story." Each student will have their own set of tangrams (printable provided before class begins). I am a licensed elementary and HS History educator with multi-grade experience in language arts and history. I have also worked as an adjunct professor and a community college for history. At every educational level, math and literature can beautifully intertwine to create a wonderful environment for learning. Tangrams, as the introduction to fractions, and the story of Grandfather Tang and Little Soo come together in a magical way for students to create their own story while learning writing and math together.
None, however, I will be encouraging the students to use the characters they created in class to write a story after class.
