US Grade 8 - 11
This engaging introductory class (one to six students)—which briefly looks at fourteen novel-writing tips—will walk your student through the process of writing a complete novel or short story. I also aim to teach a 6-week course (one class per week) that will dig deeper into each of those 14 tips! This single, one-hour session, will provide VERY helpful insights to aid your student during his/her writing journey, while helping you to determine if your student should take the expanded 6-week course. As a teacher, I enjoy lighthearted engagement and building confidence in the minds and hearts of students. There's also more to writing than the "know-hows"; there's the need to foster imagination and draw from life's experiences. One of the ways that I aim to teach is by example: I intend to have an example or two from recently published, first-time authors, revealing some stumbles that they had along the way. There are no student prerequisites for this class. However, if a student has already begun the writing journey on his/her own, it may be an encouragement for other students to hear a little bit about that accomplishment.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an award-winning published author of four suspense novels. My current work in progress (WIP) is a Cold War story about a family escaping into the West from East Germany. I'm an avid reader of various kinds of fiction: epic fantasy, geo-political thrillers, coming-of-age stories, contemporary & historical, literary, young-adult (YA), and sci-fi, as well as stories that are faith-based and/or biography-based. Additionally, I co-host a regional bi-monthly authors group.
