8th Grade Math Curriculum: Part 1

This 8-week course will cover the 8th Grade Math Common Core Standards. The following topics will include the following:

Unit 1: Equations
August 30: Solving Simple and Multi-Step Equations
September 6: Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides/ Rewriting Equations and Formulas
September 13: Problem Solving with Equations/Review

Unit 2: Transformations
September 20: Translations/Reflections
September 27: Rotations/Congruent Figures
October 4: Dilations/Similar Figures
October 11: Perimeter and Area of Similar Figures/Review


Students who are already taking 8th-grade math can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll for a complete 8th-grade math curriculum. 

The weekly schedule will include the following:
Monday: Live lesson with exposure and instruction of the concept. Students will be given the assignment to complete by Thursday.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Students will work on their assignments on their own. They can message me for additional assistance during this time.
Thursday: Live lesson where students will turn in their assignment. Additional practice of the concept will be provided or a new lesson will begin.

Daily Lessons Include:
Entry Ticket: Students will work on prior learned concepts while students are joining.
Lesson: Students will participate in the interactive math lesson.
Exit Ticket: Students will complete an exit ticket to show their understanding of the lesson.
Homework: Students will be given a homework assignment to practice the new skill. 

These math lessons will integrate real-world and engaging topics. Students will be using Nearpod, an interactive platform throughout the live lessons. Students will be provided with several different options for homework every week which include visual, real world and concrete assignments.
