US Grade 6
This ongoing course will cover the basics of the Common Core Sixth Grade Math Standards. We recommend that students who are either entering sixth grade or who have just completed sixth grade enroll in this course. However, if you feel your child is excelling in math and needs a challenge, please feel free to enroll them! This Summer course will be a great opportunity to get a head start on sixth math concepts or gain more individualized practice for students who have just completed sixth grade. This course will meet twice a week. The first meeting of the week will cover the new concept and allow students to practice and explore the standard. The second meeting of the week will allow students to go over their assignments, review the concept and play a math-based game. Optional, weekly homework will be provided. Each homework packet will have several options covering procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, and mathematical reasoning. Answer keys will be posted every Friday so that students can check their work. The following topics will be covered throughout the course. Due to the fact that this is an ongoing course, students can register for just the topics they are interested in or need additional assistance with.
