Class Experience

The students will craft along with the class.

I am a certified K-6 teacher, that loves to read!
The only homework, will be for the last week. For class #8, please already have 4 cupcakes baked.
Week 1: Wand Pencil: a regular #2 pencil, a hot glue gun, hot glue & craft paint (whatever color the child wants his/her wand to be.) Week 2: A mini Hand-sanitizer potion: a travel sized purell bottle (or any other type of hand-sanitizer), glitter (whichever color the child would like for his/her potion), a printable from the classroom, a glue-stick, a small piece of thicker paper (to use as a funnel), a toothpick or BBQ skewer to stir, *optional brown ink pad (to make the label look distressed), *optional a fun bottle with a cork, Week 3: House Pride Pencil Jar: a mason jar, craft paint- colors will depend on the Wizard house the child wants (red/burgundy & yellow, yellow & black, blue & yellow & green & silver), painter's tape, printable from classroom, scissors, paintbrushes & gold string Week 4: House Pride Bookmark: 2 pieces of thicker colored paper- colors will depend on the Wizard house the child wants (red/burgundy & yellow, yellow & black, blue & yellow & green & silver), scissors, a glue-stick, printable from the classroom Week 5: Quill Pen & inkwell: large feather, an old pen that you can cut apart, hot glue-gun, 2 sizes of wooden wheels that can easily fit on top of each other (I am using 1 inch and 1.5 inch) & a large wooden bead (that fits on top of the wooden wheels but is smaller) & black craft paint (or whatever color the child wants his/ her inkwell to be) Week 6: Broomstick Pencil: a regular #2 pencil, natural raffia ribbon (straw), a rubber-band, *optional craft paint for the broomstick color Week 7: Unicorn blood slime: clear Elmer's glue, 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of contact solution, silver glitter, *optional 1 teaspoon of silver eyeshadow or pigment powder Week 8: Wizard selection Cupcakes: Please have 4 cupcakes already baked and ready to go! You will also need 4 different colors of M&Ms separated (red, green blue & yellow), 8 chewy caramels, 1-2 toothpicks (to add details to the hat:), a butter knife, cupcake frosting (the flavor you would like), a piping bag (or zip-lock bag, *optional piping star tip, (we will also need a microwave to melt the caramels for a few seconds)
Students will be assessed by class participation.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
If the students are not comfortable using a hot glue-gun independently, the parent is more than welcome to step in and assist!
